Chief David Hewitt
David has been with the Rising Sun Police Department since January of 1998. In September of 1998, David was assigned as the department's first, full time investigator, a position he held until December2003. In July of 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. David began his law enforcement career in 1991 as a deputy sheriff with the Switzerland County Sheriff's Department. He has also served with the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department and as a patrolman with the Lawrenceburg Police Department. January 1st, 2004, David began his duties as Chief of the Rising Sun Police Department.
Lt. Brian Browning
Brian joined the Rising Sun Police Department in 1993 after serving two years as a police officer with the Town of Vevay, Indiana. Brian was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1997. Brian also serves as the department's evidence technician. Brian also participates in the department's bicycle patrol and he has been instrumental in the youth bike camp that is co-sponsored by the police department and our local extension service.
Sgt. Frank McIntosh
Frank is the department's most senior officer. He came to the Rising Sun Police Department in 1980 after having served as a patrolman in Austin, Indiana. During his time with Rising Sun Police, Frank has served as Patrolman, Sergeant, and as Chief of Police. Frank is probably best known for being one of the first canine officers in Southeast Indiana. Frank and his late canine partner Arthur assisted not only the Rising Sun Police, but several other police agencies as well. Frank and Arthur also performed many public relations programs with several of the area's schools and civic organizations.
Officer Wayne Siekman
Wayne joined the Rising Sun Police in 1998 after having served as a deputy with the Ohio County Sheriff's Department since 1992. Wayne is a member of the bike patrol program and is actively involved with the Rising Sun Volunteer Fire Department.
Officer Laura Wilhelm
Laura came to the Rising Sun Police Department in 1999 after having been an officer with the State Capitol Police. While with the Capitol Police, Laura served as a Patrol Officer, Detective Sergeant and as personal security for the Governor. Laura has also been employed as a jail officer with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.
Officer Rick Miller
Rick came to work with the Rising Sun Police Department in 2000. Rick had been employed prior as a deputy sheriff with the Ohio County Sheriff's Department. Rick has also been involved with the fire department and EMS and has received advanced training in accident investigations.
K-9 Officer Rodney Rimstidt
Norman "Rodney" Rimstidt, came to the Rising Sun Police Department in 2000. Rodney had been a deputy sheriff with the Ohio County Sheriff's Department since 1992. Rodney was then promoted to Chief Deputy in 1992 and remained in that supervisory position until coming to the police department. Rodney has been assigned as the department's canine handler since 2001 and is partnered with our canine officer Kimon. Rodney is also a member of the United States Armed Forces and serves with the Indiana Army National Guard.
Officer Lowell Ross Colen
Officer Ross Colen began his duties with the Rising Sun Police Department April 18th, 2005. Ross had previously served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Ohio County Sheriff's Department and is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Ross had also served as a reserve officer with the police department and the Switzerland County Sheriff's Department.
Administrative Assistant Denise Singler
Denise has been with the police department since 1997. Her duties include managing the office and the day to day affairs of the business aspect of the police department. If you contact Rising Sun PD, Denise is most likely the first person that you'll speak with. Denise is retired from the United States Air Force.
